Go to 1-800-411-SAVE (1-800-411-7283), or better yet, dial the number and ask for the phone number of your favorite restaurant or your child's school. Not only will they provide you with the information, they'll give you a choice to have the number repeated, to receive the address or to send it to your phone as a text message. It will even provide reverse look-ups. All that for.... free!
How do they do it? One word - advertisers. If you asked for a phone number for Mario's Pizza Parlor down the street, you may have to listen to a 15 second ad for Domino's Pizza before it's given to you. But, really, isn't that worth the average $2.25 that most 411 services charge? After all, we're forced to watch ads in movie theatres, yet we are never given discounts on ticket prices or offered free popcorn. Isn't this a little easier to swallow?
I'd say it is. The only downside is that it isn't available in Canada - yet.
Now, go and find that new coffee shop in town and use the $2.25 you just saved on a small latte. Then spread the word!
