Moving into a New Year: Is it Time for a Change?

By

As the new year approaches, many of us start drafting that sometimes dreaded resolution list, a list we don't always adhere to, at least not past February. But if you have "moving" on your list of goals, why not move to a city with the most potential for career growth? Or maybe after having too many glasses of wine at the company Christmas party, you just need to start the new year off by relocating.

It's all possible. At least according to Forbes.

Forbes once again has put out their list of best places to jump-start your career or a business. The seventh annual ranking looked at business costs, living costs, education levels, job and income growth and migration patterns. They also took into account quality of life, which included crime rates and entertainment value.

And here they are:

  1. Boise ID
  2. Raleigh-Durham NC
  3. Austin TX
  4. Washington DC
  5. Albuquerque NM
  6. Huntsville AL
  7. Fayetteville AR
  8. Norfolk VA
  9. Atlanta GA
  10. Madison WI

Another great resource for finding the perfect city for your emerging or developing career is CityRating.com. This site asks for visitor input and rates cities according to results. Occupational outlooks are actually narrowed down to specific career titles, ranging from Nuclear Engineers to Interior Designers. They also publish salary and growth rates.

TCB Solutions has unveiled the top 20 places to relocate, taking into consideration economic growth, diversity, crime and cost of living. It provides the unemployment rate extending back to 1994 for each of their top cities.
