Quick Tip: Use Shredded Paper to Protect Your Belongings

By , About.com Guide

Almost everyone owns a paper shredder and if you don't, it might be worth the small investment to not only protect yourself from identity theft, but also to make your own packing material.

Gather up all your old magazines, office paper, old essays and reports; paper items you were going to recycle anyway. Remove any staples or paperclips, then shred the documents one by one.

Shredded paper makes a great insulator against bumps or shifting contents. I use it to line my boxes before placing wrapped, fragile items on top. Not only will your things arrive in one piece, but you've gotten rid of a lot of extra paperwork!
