Mayflower

By Diane Schmidt, About.com

Established:

Established in 1927 as Mayflower Transit Co, in Indianapolis as an alternative to shipping household belongings by rail.

Company Profile:

  • ISO 9001:2000 certified
  • Competitive pricing
  • Guaranteed Pricing with the Know Before You Go*
  • Over 500 agents across the United States and around the world
  • Free, no-obligation estimates
  • "Quality Labor Certification" teaches standardized techniques for safe packing and loading of possessions
  • Customer satisfaction survey program

Services Offered:

Local, state-to-state and international moves can be arranged by Mayflower. With a variety of packing options, including a "You Pack and Load, We Move", exactly like United Van Lines offer, this can provide you with a more cost-effective move.

Extra Services:

Mayflower offers the CityPointe system where you can find information on your new community, schools, use mortgage calculators and find temporary housing.

Online Services:

They provide an electronic copy of their claim form; however, you must print it, fill it out then mail or fax it into the company to process. They do offer an online tracking system so you can see when your shipment is due as well as an online estimate service.

Complaints:

Not blacklisted in MovingScam, Mayflower checks out in the searches I did with the BBB. Remember to check the moving company using the local name as Mayflower may use third party companies to move your belongings.
