Before You Hire a Moving Company
We're in the process of moving - again. So, while I write this from our new home (where there isn't any furniture yet and the house echos with every tap on the computer keyboard) my husband is finishing up the packing at our old home almost 1000 miles away. I've left him in charge (gulp). I had to because of a work contract that required me to move three weeks before we were ready to go...
Now, while my husband is more than capable of getting this move done, I still found myself coaching him through choosing and booking a mover. My insistence on thorough research may have seemed extreme, but I have been the victim of a really bad move - one that left me in tears, requiring the police and a news investigation team to get even a fraction of my stuff back.
So, I'm telling you what I told my husband (but I'm only telling you once, as opposed to several times - poor guy!), find out what you need to know before you hire so you, the contents of your home, and your checkbook don't get caught by rogue movers.
