Moving? Traveling? Don't Leave Kitty Behind

Monday October 30, 2006

Cat in ChairWe're going to be moving again in spring 2007. And while we are moving to a new part of the country, it should only be a 10-12 hour drive. But the problem is, one of our kitties has a heart condition that won't enable him to fly and our vet tells us that he needs to remain calm, something that he isn't particularly good at. So, while we usually fly our kitties, this time it looks like we'll be driving instead. In light of this new information, I thought we'd look at people who are moving with pets. Traveling across country is never easy at the best of times, and even harder on our four-legged friends.

Petswelcome.com is a great site for pets on the move. They provide extensive lists of pet-friendly accommodations so you and your pooch can take a break from driving and get a good night's sleep. And while you're there, check out the InfoXchange where readers submit their solutions to moving and traveling with pets - it's a great resource for all critters on the move.
